Exodus thru Joshua, Isaiah (selections), Matthew, John, Hebrews, I-III John, I/II Peter
Exegetical Essentials:
Meditate on these parts of GOD’s Sacred Word along with basic Bible language foundations, focusing primarily on key words, and seasoned with some Patristic commentary.
Exegetical Formularies & Applications:
By way of his appointed prophet, Moses, and his brother Aaron, God freed the Israelites from the oppressive bondage of the Hell-controlled, ancient empire of Egypt. God brought them to His mountain, where they dwelled for a year receiving instruction from God through Moses, a renewal of the covenant that God had made with Abraham concerning their growth and conquering of the Promised Land, and the ordinances concerning the Tabernacle and the sacrificial system.
Much of this was recapitulated in the Gospels of Matthew and John with remarkable poetic symmetry, showing how the Exodus and Tabernacle were fulfilled in Jesus.
‘The Exodus’ saga and these Gospels further inspired rich stories providing readers additional perspectives of the events they documented. We will consider two of the most popular from the 19th Century, from either side of the Civil War: The Pillar of Fire (1854; by Episcopal priest, J.H. Ingraham), and Ben-Hur—A Tale of the Christ (1880; by Union General & New Mexico Territory Governor, Lew Wallace).
This saga is the core cycle of Holy Scripture, revealing not only astounding blessings from GOD for His people in the Age of the New Covenant, but edifying the Church as she continues her Exodus to the Eternal Promised Land.
