Welcome to Corbenic
The Amish of Maine are an inspiration when it comes to an intentional Christian community with an unwavering commitment to their culture, but also desiring to support and preserve where they live by offering their resources to everyone.
Why not one (or several…) in a similar fashion with its own blessings to offer? What about a Bible College serving these communities, based on traditional principles going back to the Ancient Church and carried into today by orthodox Lutherans and continuing Anglicans? And thus: College Corbenic, an extension of the ministry of a confessing, catholic mission parish continuing in the rich Saxon-Anglican heritage as we serve the Crown of Maine to the glory of the FATHER. We hope the various images you see on this website of other abbeys and Christian college communities will inspire you as they inspire us, for it is what we hope to build in the years to come, by the LORD’s gracious will.
Rediscover the Old School
Centuries ago, students had access to open-air learning environments,
incorporating God’s Creation with teachers as concerned with the souls
of the students as with the results of their education.
Corbenic is interested in cultivating the classic teacher-student
learning environment, so that the strengths of each student’s
abilities and interests are maximized to their full potential.
Like the early medieval abbeys,
the college also desires to be immersed locally as well as connected to ‘the land’,
so that each student can learn valuable homesteading skills
that will contribute to the community that is the setting of their formation,
but also their own homes, in an effort to build it up,
develop that region’s identity,
and offer additional (even new) opportunities.
Corbenic’s Principles
Biblical
Corbenic is faithful to every Word in Scripture; to the Sacraments JESUS instituted there; to the beauty and edification found in the historic liturgy that traces back to the Tabernacle as shown in the Pentateuch. For this purpose: to be able to stand in every evil day— indeed, to stand; to glorify our Father in heaven so that He will graciously dwell with us and bless our labours; and, preserved by the Holy SPIRIT, to be received by the risen King of Glory on the Day of the LORD and ushered into the New Heavens & Earth. (Eph. 6, Mt. 5, Ps. 24, II Ptr. 3)
Affordable
Wisdom formation is meant for the benefit of our family, fellow saints, and all our neighbors. There is not a significant tuition cost required to attend Corbenic; students are responsible for their food, board and all other related expenses. Further, they are expected to be an active part in Corbenic’s traditional Christian community. Please consider supporting us with your prayerful generosity so that we can in the future provide permanent housing options & opportunities for students desiring to remain in the area, especially if they have children and/or local jobs.
Flexible
Corbenic’s unique program structure and flexibility is meant to provide an opportunity to learn at the student’s pace, on the student’s schedule & budget, so that the student will not need to compromise on their other vocational duties; for bringing their edified faith and SPIRIT-given wisdom to bear witness to Christ JESUS to those they interact with everyday in their various vocations is a key element of being formed for a life of long-term servanthood as Christians in our region as we proceed on our adventure to Celestial City ahead of the Day of the LORD.
My name is Fr. Joshua J. Radke; I am the priest/pastor & domestic missionary of Christ the King parish, a Continuing Anglican (UECNA) mission congregation in the east-central region of the Crown of Maine, along the St John River Valley, to which this Bible College is affiliated. One of my principle motivations for establishing Corbenic, especially its two unique Chivalric Arts degree programs, was to aid in the faithful edification and the returning to proper influence of robust, traditional Christianity in my region of Maine & the Canadian Maritimes.
With this goal in mind, I am developing a community of academic formation in this region dedicated to the Eternal Kingdom of GOD and its calling to besiege the Gates of Hell {Mt. 16} and cast down fortresses of Abaddon {II-Cor. 10}, and dethrone the Devil where he is allowed dominion by the servants and cosmic imperial powers of the evil heavens {Ps. 149, Eph. 6} as patterned by our Lord JESUS Christ in His Life, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension—in particular a setting where (to paraphrase GK Chesterton) Theology, History & Story will primarily develop a proper Christian worldview and ethic.
